Randy’s martial arts journey began at the age of 14 after his brother got into a fight at school. His mother, the wise woman she was, enrolled all her three sons in the one and only Karate school in the city of Regina (circa 1970). He achieved his black belt in the Shotokan style of Karate at university and then later received his black belt in Shito Ryu style of Karate under the guidance of Shihan Fumio Demura 9th Dan, and Sensei Cameron Steuart 6th Dan

At the age of 62, he started on the path to learning Pekiti Tirsia Kali (PTK), when the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic hit and limited in-person training it opened up virtual training from around the world. During this time, he started training in Systema from Vladimir Vasiliev in Toronto. In July 2020 he began his training in Cognitive Kali, under the founder and head instructor, Guro Paul McCarthy.
Randy is excited about teaching Cognitive Kali, a movement modality which, at its heart, blends our current knowledge in the neurosciences with the science of physical activity through the use of an ancient martial art known as Kali. He believes it is this inter-connectedness between moving the body and training the mind that has the potential to make a significant difference in a person’s health and wellness.
Randy has a background in dentistry and specializes in periodontics, he also has a post-graduate certificate in pain management from the University of Alberta.
A new movement practice with progressively complex movements designed to train your body and your brain at the same time.
